  Software Piracy

Software piracy means copying software without paying for it. In Hong Kong, it is illegal to copy, upload, download, distribute or install a computer program without a proper license.

However, some programs may be free of charge or provide you with a "test-use" period. At the end of the period, those programs will expire, or you can pay a fee to continue using it.

Software developers usually invest months or years and a lot of research and development money in the process of creating software ¡V they deserve to be paid for their effort.
