| When we talk about ethics in Chinese culture,
we may encounter tension aroused from our culture, especially regarding
the relationships between parents and children. There are voices emerging
over and over again, from the media, the schools, and the social workers,
urging the community to rebuild strong bonds between family members.
The family is the basic building block in a community. It provides
a supportive network for all to work and live happily.
As it's getting very popular to have a computer and Internet connection
at home, children can go online very easily. Cyberspace is a reflection
of our real world, a mixture of good and bad. Without proper supervision,
especially for younger kids, problems can hardly be avoided. Parents’ guidance
and teachers’ help are two important factors in nurturing our
young people to have positive habits when using the Internet and
to prevent them from misusing the tools and resources.
Social workers, parents, and teachers would like to share their
valuable advice on providing proper guidance to our kids while navigating
the virtual world.
